Departure from Dallas to Florence.



March 19

Arrival in Bologna. Meet your local tour manager and driver and transfer in no time at all to Florence which is approx 70 minutes away. Time to relax and adapt to the Italian way of life. Dinner and overnight in Florence



March 20

Meet your local tour guide for a walking tour of Florence. Your in-depth visit to this wonderful center of Renaissance art will consist out of a visit to the Uffizi Gallery and the Academia. From Botticelli’s Venus in the Uffizi gallery to the magnificent statue of Michelangelo’s David, all this will become reality as you visit these wonderful art galleries which are truly a Mecca for any art lover. There is so much to see and learn in Florence. Follow your specialist guide and listen whereas in the afternoon take advantage of exploring Florence at your own pace. Dinner and overnight in Florence



March 21

Departure for Siena. The drive from Florence to Siena will take a relaxing 90 minutes at the most. Here in the ancient center of Siena, the banking system was founded. Ancient Palaces still line the streets and the impressive Campo or main square is a site to be seen. You may even want to climb to the top of the Town hall watchtower from where you have a wonderful view over the entire area. Dinner and overnight in Siena.



March 22

Departure from Siena for Assisi where you will make a short stop to visit the Magnificent Basilica which houses the tomb of St. Francis. He is the patron saint of Italy and lived in the late 12th and early 13th century. Continue your drive to Rome where you will arrive in the late afternoon, just in time for dinner. Overnight in Rome.



March 23

Morning visit of Ancient Rome. The Roman Forum, the Coliseum, the Venice Square and so much more will be on this morning’s sightseeing program as you tour the Roman part of the Eternal city. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Rome.



March 24

This morning a visit to the Vatican museum is scheduled. Here Michelangelo worked as he immortalized the Creation and last Judgment. See for yourself and you surely will be impressed. The visit to the Vatican city will end in St. Peter’s Basilica which is the largest church in the Christian world.

In the afternoon there is time for some further exploration of sites you want to visit. Dinner and overnight in Rome



March 25

Today you will drive out to Ostia for a visit to this ancient Roman seaport. Ostia was an important military port during the height of the Roman empire. Its decline set in around 4th AD. Today Ostia is partly a popular seaside resort for the Roman citizen as well as an important historic site. A boat may run from Ostia, via the Tiber river, to Rome and if the schedule is in service, you will return to Rome by boat alternatively the local train runs a regular service between Ostia and the center of Rome. Return to Rome for more sightseeing and perhaps some local shopping. Dinner and overnight in Rome.



March 26

Departure for Pompeii. Visit Pompeii and Oplantis. These ancient towns were buried in 79Ad in one of the most disastrous volcanic eruptions in history. They provide strong evidence of the ancient way of life in the Roman era. A specialist guide will show you around. Enjoy, listen and learn! Then after a most interesting visit, you will leave for Sorrento for dinner and overnight stay.



March 27

Paestum is one of Italy’s most important archaeological sites. It was discovered around 1750. This settlement was initially an ancient Greek colony and was founded around 600 BC. Your specialist guide will show you around this most perfect of Greek temples. Enjoy the visit and at lunchtime do not forget to indulge into a typical Italian pizza as it is here where this delicious dish was first baked. The taste of the ripe tomatoes and the fresh cheese as well as the basil will melt on your tongue.
Return to Sorrento for some leisurely time. Dinner and overnight in Sorrento



March 28

Transfer to Naples for return flight back home in Dallas
